You are welcome to join us in lecture hall Kollektorn, MC2 with fika or on zoom. Our speaker is Gustav Eriksson, Doctoral Student, Applied Chemistry, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The seminar is titled ?Atom Probe Tomography for Nanoscience applications?. Abstract: Atom Probe Tomography (APT) is a powerful technique that reveal the structure of materials with near-atomic resolution. By removing and identifying atoms one at a time from a material, a 3D image revealing microstructure features can be obtained. Historically, this technique has only been available for metals and similar materials, but recent development has made it accessible to a wider range of functional materials. In this presentation, we will discuss the foundations of APT and how nanomaterials, biological materials and nanoscale features of functional materials can be studied using this technique. The seminar is divided into two parts, where the first part consists of a pure overview of the field and is held on a generally accessible level (10 min). The second part will be more technical (15-20 minutes). Looking forward to seeing you live or on Zoom: https://chalmers.zoom.us/j/63018620593#success Best regards, Alexandra, Philippe, Christoph, and Janine -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... You are welcome to join us in lecture hall Kollektorn, MC2 with fika or on zoom. Our speaker is Leonard Nielsen, Doctoral Student, Materials Physics, Physics. The seminar is titled ?Probing the missing link between micro- and macrostructure??. Abstract: The mechanical properties of many complex materials, including biological materials such as bone, depend on structural features at multiple scales. At the molecular level, bone is made up of approximately 300 nanometers long collagen proteins, locked in place by hydroxyapatite crystals; these proteins are collected into bundles called fibrils; the fibrils are collected into micrometer-sized fibers, and so on. Small-angle x-ray scattering tensor tomography is an exciting new technique that enables us to simultaneously study of these different levels of organization, resolved in three dimensions, in samples which are large enough to be visible to the naked eye. This opens up exciting new research avenues for the study of bone and other so-called hierarchical materials. The seminar is divided into two parts, where the first part consists of a pure overview of the field and is held on a generally accessible level (10 min). The second part will be more technical (15-20 minutes). You are welcome to join us in lecture hall Kollektorn, MC2 with fika or on zoom. Our speaker is Elin Svensson, Project Assistant, Chemical Biology, Life Sciences. The seminar is titled ?Microfluidic platforms to evaluate the performance of nanomedicine in blood??. Abstract: Nanoparticles have the potential to revolutionize medicine by improving drug delivery. For instance, the function of the mRNA-based Covid-19 vaccines was enabled by using lipid nanoparticles. However, effectively delivering drugs to targeted organs or pathological niches, such as tumors or inflammation sites, remains a key challenge in nanomedicine. This SmallTalk will discuss using a microfluidic platform to construct a more realistic model compared to existing ones, enabling more accurate estimations of nanomedical behaviour in the human body. The seminar is divided into two parts, where the first part consists of a pure overview of the field and is held on a generally accessible level (10 min). The second part will be more technical (15-20 minutes).
