Thanks for all the good ideas. To clarify my own position: I don't  
expect the positivity checker to accept such data types automatically.  
The only reason such data types are permissible is because they can be  
defined by induction - so it makes sense to do so. I'll see how I get  
on with some of your suggestions. All the best,
