It was only confirmed yesterday because I have been told by those who use it, that it is safe to do this today as it isn't being used for the next couple of weeks so it shouldn't affect anybody and I had a morning today I could dedicate to it. Not exactly sure what this affects - I know surveys are run on it so I assume there are no active surveys. Det gällde hela campus Johanneberg + Lindholmen. Vi driftsatte en lösning ca 09.40, och sedan dess skall man kunna använda WiFi på hela campus (dock kan man ha upplevt minimala störningar i storleken sekunder mellan ca 12.40-13.00). Har man fortfarande problem, efter att ha startat om sin enhet, bör man kontakta Chalmers support. === Short summary of WiFi issues (eduroam/NOMAD), and wired NOMAD: The maintenance work carried out yesterday on wlan2-gw caused issues that did not become apparent until this morning, affecting ability to connect. Both campus Johanneberg + Lindholmen. We put a work-around in place around 09.40, after this time clients should no longer experience connection issues. Lite mer detaljer: I samband med uppgradering av filservern sol.ita.chalmers.se igår torsdag den 12/10 fick klientdatorerna problem med att förhandla fram vilken version av SMB-protokollet de skulle använda. Datorer som sedan tidigare haft förbindelse med filservern kunde återetablera den med samma version som de använde tidigare, men nystartade datorer klarade inte av att genomföra förhandlingen. Som en tillfällig lösning tillåter vi för närvarande enbart SMB version 1. Det kan dock betyda att datorer som tidigare har använd andra versioner kan behövas startas om. Hi, The urgent problems have been fixed temporarily, and we are working on a permanent solution. A restart should help those who still have problems. Details: When we upgraded the file server sol.ita.chalmers.se yesterday (Thursday Oct 12) many client computers could no longer negotiate what SMB protocol version to use. Computers with a previously established server connection could re-establish it with the same version as before, but restarted computers could not negotiate with the server. As a temporary solution we are only supporting SMB version 1 on the server right now. This means that client computers that have used other versions may need a restart. A large number of computers on internet is sending so much traffic at us that some of our IT-systems grinds to a halt. The attack started with email and www.chalmers.se. It has now changed focus and is targeting the student portal, CDKS and www.chalmers.se.
