Online on Zoom, Thursday 5 November at 17.30. https://chalmers.zoom.us/j/61570842753 Password: 254264 Abstrac?t: Incoherent information processors using transistors are reaching their physical limits. Demand for computing power already outstrips the most optimistic Moore's law estimates. There is no realistic path to a sustainable growth in our capabilities to connect, compute and sense without fundamental architectural changes to our information infrastructure. While coherent systems using e.g. light or superconducting qubits are on the rise, they face major challenges on the way to addressing problems of true practical interest. I will present my research on micro- and nanoscale optical, mechanical and microwave systems on a chip in the context of coherent and scalable information processing. I will cover past, current, and future work, focusing on microwave-to-optics interfaces while touching on related directions in hybrid quantum systems and integrated optics generally. https://www.chalmers.se/en/departments/mc2/calendar/Pages/r-van-laer.aspx -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The invited Speakers are Rouven Floeter and Luca Haab, Hitachi ABB Power Grids, who will talk about: Quantum-safe Communications for the Future of Power Grids Digitalization is essential for electrical systems, connecting assets to networks and providing visibility and control through high-speed communications. With the growth of smart grids and renewable energy, information technology underpins all parts of power delivery from generation to distribution. However, while increased automation and integrated systems enhance data analysis and real-time control, they can leave the grid open to cyberattacks. Long-term and Quantum-safe encrypted high-speed communication for real-time applications without compromising timing and availability is therefore an essential requirement. The webinar will address various use cases of mission critical markets for Quantum-safe encryption and in particular how quantum technologies can be leveraged now to secure the power grid for the long term future.
